I. Information and Audio-Visual Products - IEC 62368-1 Standard

With the development of audio and video multimedia technologies, the integration of audio and video devices and information technology devices is increasing, and the boundaries between them are becoming increasingly blurred. In response to this situation, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) issued IEC 62368-1 in 2010, covering safety standards for audio-visual, consumer electronics, and information and communication technology products. In the future, IEC 62368-1 will to a certain extent completely replace the existing IEC 60950-1 (Information Technology ITE) and IEC 60065 (Audio/Video) standards.

1. Latest Standard:

Since the release of IEC 62368-1, it has been continuously updated and improved. The third edition of IEC 62368-1 was finally officially promulgated on October 4, 2018, after a delay. Compared with the second edition, the third edition has the following important technical changes:

∙ Added requirements for outdoor equipment (integrating the requirements of IEC 60950-22);
∙ New requirements for optical radiation (requiring according to IEC 60825-1 and IEC 62471);
∙ Added requirements for liquid insulating materials;
∙ Added requirements for work units where people are allowed to enter (integrating the requirements of IEC 60950-23);
∙ Added requirements for wireless charging transmitters;
∙ Added requirements for fully insulated winding wires;
∙ Added optional determination methods for openings on the top and bottom and edges of the fireproof enclosure;
∙ Added optional requirements for sound pressure;
∙ Added IEC 62368-3 requirements for providing power through communication lines (integrating IEC 60950-21 into IEC 62368-3).

2. E-You Service:

At present, most countries have planned the implementation date of the 62368-1 standard by the end of 2020. Although the corresponding TRF of IEC 62368-1: 2018 (the third edition) was published on the IECEE website on January 17, 2019, manufacturers can theoretically apply for CB according to the third edition standard, but only a few countries have announced their national differences, and there are still problems in the actual international transfer. In response to this, our current recommended approach is: when manufacturers apply for CB for audio-visual products, IEC 60065: 2014 and the third edition of IEC 62368-1 should be applied simultaneously.

II. Testing of Information Technology Products

Information products refer to information technology devices with a rated working voltage not exceeding 600V, powered by a power supply or battery, including commercial electrical equipment and related equipment.

∙ Data network equipment: bridges, data circuit terminal equipment, data terminal equipment, routers
∙ Electrical and electronic retail equipment: cash registers, point of sale terminals, including related electronic scales
∙ Electrical appliances and electronic office equipment: calculators, copiers, recording devices, document shredders, copiers, erasers, microelectronic office equipment, electric files, paper shears (pressing machines, cutting machines, separators), paper jogging machines, pencil sharpeners, staplers, typewriters
∙ Other information technology equipment: photo printing equipment, public information terminals, multimedia equipment
∙ Postal equipment: mail processing equipment, postage machines
∙ Telecommunication network infrastructure equipment: billing equipment, multiplexers, network power supply equipment, network terminal equipment, repeaters, transmission equipment, communication switching equipment
∙ Telecommunication terminal equipment: fax equipment, key-controlled telephone systems, modems, program-controlled switches, page telephone answering machines, telephone equipment (landline and wireless)

III. Testing of Audio and Video Products

Audio and video products refer to electronic devices for audio, video and similar purposes with a single-phase rated alternating current power supply voltage or direct current power supply voltage not exceeding 250V, and a non-single-phase power supply voltage not exceeding 433V.
